Team Ordinary Athlete: Weiner, Stu

My Running Story:

In 2007, I began my journey into transforming myself into an endurance athlete when I joined a fitness boot camp. Through the boot camp I learned to do exercises that helped develops muscular and cardio endurance and eventually led to running 5k’s and 5-mile races over the next four years. In 2011, the next phase of my journey began by completing several distance races including my first half marathon in Providence RI at the Rock N Roll Half Marathon…In the pouring rain!! In 2012, I began my Journey into marathons by running the Boston marathon as a charity runner where I raised over $6,000 for Mass Eye and Ear infirmary and over $8,000 in 2013 when I again ran Boston. Yes, I was there the day of the bombing and was a crazy day for me and my family. We won’t go any further but did return to run and finish Boston in 2014. Over the last several years I have completed more marathons including another Boston in 2017 as well as a few others in Rhode Island, and Connecticut and have plans to run marathons in Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine to complete the New England circuit over the next few years. I completed a goal of finishing half marathons in each New England state in 2016 by finishing a Half Marathon a few years ago by completing half marathons at the Willimantic Half in Wllimantic CT and the Smuttynose Half in Hamton NH and continue to run half marathons as they are probably my favorite distance to run. I have now run 37 Half Marathons and look to complete my 40th half marathon in December and have also completed 9 Marathons and am looking to complete my goal of running a marathon in all New England States over the next couple of years. I look forward to continuing my running journey by completing Half Marathons and Marathons in other states as well as smaller distance races as long as my body will allow. I Look forward to sharing my journey with you and feel free to Follow me at @nedlam87 on twitter and on Instragram at marathon_10.
