Team Ordinary Athlete: Jones, Keith

My Running Story:

I started running back in 2015. I wasn’t happy with the way I looked, and I wanted to get back into shape. In high school, I was on the cross country team. One year we volunteered at the NYC marathon and I fell in love with that race. I just knew one day I had to run in that race.

Fast forward to 2015 – not liking what I saw in the mirror, I signed up for a local 5k race in the cemetery. I know… that sounds crazy!!! I was thinking it would be an easy race. But I was wrong. That course kick my ass! I was so unprepared, I told myself next year I will be back for my rematch.

Fast forward to the next year’s race, and I did a lot better this time. In fact, I took second place in my age group. That was a good feeling and I was hooked on this running thing. You can say that was one of my favorite moments.

The other was running in the NYC Marathon last year. I trained my ass off for that race and crossing that finish line meant the world to me by far my greatest athletic achievement. My future goals are to run in some more major marathons and run some more races in the state of New York.
