Team Ordinary Athlete: Boos, Ron

How I Started Running:

I ran as little as possible when I was in the Marine Corps. It was easily my least favorite physical requirement. After I retired it got worse. I grew to 250 lbs and got winded climbing a flight of stairs. Gold’s gym opened right beside my job, coincidentally just after New Year’s Day, though I didn’t join as a resolution. I did a couple of workouts on the floor but didn’t feel like it was a good fit, I wasn’t excited. Instead, my workout partner and I signed up for the Studio classes (Cycle, Burn, and Gold’s Fit) and I was hooked. I lost 43 lbs in 3 months and won the local weight loss challenge. 5 days a week, for a year and a half, I did at least 1 hour-long class, many times I did 2-a-days and got into OCR racing.

Gym schedule changes caused me to not be able to go to the classes anymore, so I started running every day. I have run at least 1 mile every single day since September 30, 2018.
